Food Service is available at AHS before school from 7:30-8:30 am, during break, and during lunch. The food service team has teamed up with the California Alliance of Family Farmers (CAFF caff.org) to use agriculture from local, sustainable, organic farms in the Growers Collaborative.
We are looking into purchasing vending machines to make food more available to students throughout the day. The machines will be stocked with nutritious items that will be appealing to the students.
Food services at AHS will be moving into the multi-purpose room because of the new pool construction. This will be the new permanent cafeteria for AHS. The new design will include a food court model with round tables for more of a community feel. We will be soliciting student input for the décor. One of our goals is to install large flat panel monitors in the cafeteria to showcase student audio visual projects and possibly show sporting event highlights, along with videos such as extreme skiing or surfing.
Our program will continue to evolve to meet the nutritional needs and tastes of our wonderful ethnically diverse student population at AUSD. We will also continue to consult with students, parents and school staff to make the food service program at AUSD a model for all schools.
The lunch menu changes daily and is published in the Daily Bulletin.
