Library Policies and FAQs

Q: Who is the Librarian and the Librarian Technician?

A: Ms. Oremland (a.k.a “Ms. O”) is the Librarian. Barbara Lewit is the part-time Library Tech (1 1/2 hours daily).

Q: Can I talk in the library?

A: This library is very echo-y. If you want to talk, figure out a way to do it softly.

Q: Can I eat in the library?

A: No……definitely, no.

Q: Why not?

A: Ants. Roaches. Ruined carpet and computers. Other really really bad things. Seriously.

Q: What may I use the Internet/Computers for?

A: The internet/computers are primarily for academic use. That’s what they were purchased for. During class time especially, you must focus on your assignment and not other distractions on the internet/computer.

Q: Are there any websites I need to avoid?

A: Please do not use online games or use youtube or online videos for non-academic purposes – they slow down the bandwidth for the whole district and may have inappropriate content.

Q: How many books can I check out and how long can I keep them?

A: 10. If you really want more, talk to Ms. O. You can keep the books for 4 weeks - return them if you’re done early.

Q: What happens if I lose a book?

A: You’ll need to pay for any lost items.

Q: What happens if I return the book late?

A: If the book is more than 1 week late, it will cost 10 cents per book per day the book is late.

Q: May I use my cell phone?

A: Yes, but put your cell phone on vibrate and turn off the keypad tones. Texting only. Go outside if you need to talk.

Q: May I use my mp3 player / listen to music on the computer?

A: If you are here on your own time, sure…just keep your headphones on and the volume at a reasonable level. The library has headphones you may borrow if you need them.

Q: Is the library as awesome as I hear it is?

A: The library is more awesome than you could ever imagine.
