Donations to the AHS Library
In the past, the AHS Library has been very fortunate to be the recepient of donations of books and materials from community members.
With the current financial crisis, the library currently does not have a full budget for books and materials and more than ever must rely on grants, revenue from book fairs, and individual donations in order to make acquisitions.
Having the ability to acquire new materials is important because a library collection is constantly evolving: new fiction for pleasure reading for students and new audiovisual materials, non-fiction, and reference materials to support subject curriculum (especially in science and politics, which is constantly changing).
Here are 4 ways you can support the AHS Library:
1. Shop at our Barnes and Noble Book Fairs. Our next book fair is scheduled for June, 2010
2. Purchase a book from our Wish List (below).
3. Donate money towards collection development. In the past, individual donations have been made towards specific needs such as a new encyclopedia set. The AHS library is currently seeking to update and expand its science, photography, economics, and geography collections. We are also looking for donations of flash drives (we check these out to students, and we can always use more)
4. Donate books you no longer need. Important: Please check with the librarian before donating materials that are not on the Wish List. The library has guidelines for what it will and will not add to the collection. We hope community members understand that we cannot take all donations but that we very much appreciate your generosity!
If you have any questions, please email us or call 510.558.2528. Thank you!
