Importing Movies
When you are on iMovie and you would like to make a movie from the monitor’s camera go to the video camera button on the far left of the screen in the grey bar, when it pops up press Capture to start and Done to finish. Your movie will automatically save to iMovie.
Importing from a camera
Step 1- Open up iMovie
Step 2- Plug camera into USB port
Step 3- A screen with thumbnails will pop up and you can just “x” out of it.
Step 4- Go to file and select “import movies”. Click ok for Large 960x540
Step 5- Under devices select the white rectangular icon with “AHS library…”. From there select DCIM then 100 video.
Step 6- Once you click on 100 video a list of movies will be on the right. Press
control + shift and click only the files you want to import. Click import.
Note: your files may take several minutes to load.
Creating and Editing Your Video
Step 1- Click the first film clip and drag the yellow outline to the end of the clip.
Step 2- Drag the outlined box to the workspace directly above.
Step 3- To add more clips repeat the first step and drag the clip onto the end of the first.
Note: You can repeat those 3 steps until you have all the clips you need.
- Playing and Pausing Your Movie
Step 1- On the far right side of your screen in the grey toolbar there is a box with 2 shaded triangles and 2 not shaded triangles, click on it.
Step 2- Click on the transition you want and drag it to either side of your clip.
*If your transition is too slow or fast…
Step 1- Right click on your transition in the workspace and select Set Duration…
Step 2- You can choose however long or short you want your transition to last.
- You can also add background music/sound
Step 1- Click on the music note on the far right side of your screen in the grey toolbar and you will get a list of music and background sounds.
Step 2- You may place the sound any where on the film strip according to where you want the sound to be.
*If your background music/sound is too long
Step 1- Click on the green box till you see the yellow outline then, right click on the green box in the workspace and select Trim Music.
Step 2- Drag the yellow outline to however long you want the sound to last.
*If your music or sound effects are louder than you want
Step 1- Click on the clip and in the middle of the grey tool bar click a speaker, click on it.
- To take out pieces of your clip….
Step 1- Click on the clip you want to shorten or take out and drag the yellow outline over it.
Step 2- Right click in the outlined box and select Cut
Step 3- You can then take out pieces of your clip you would like to discard.
Creating title and film credits
Step 1- Go to the upper case “T” on the far right of the grey toolbar.
Step 2- Drag your choice to the beginning or end of the clip
Step 3- On the video screen to the right of the working place you will be able it write in whatever you want in the provided spaces.
Note: Make sure you press Done when your finished.
Exporting Movies Onto a Flash Drive
Step 1- Open iMovie and create a new folder. (FileàNew Folder)
Step 2- After creating your movie drag your project file to your new created file
Step 3- Click on your project file name, then go to the (Share à Export Movie)
Step 4-Save you file to the flash drive
Step 5- After successfully saving the movie to your flash drive safely EJECT.
